Equal cost for equal education: Local districts lobby for change in charter school payments

Area school officials are lobbying Pennsylvania legislators to support a proposal from Gov. Tom Wolf that would level the checkbook for traditional public schools when it comes to their charter school payments. When a child attends a charter school, the school district redirects taxpayer dollars to the new school according to a formula based on enrollment and budget numbers. That means the tuition payment can vary wildly from district to district.
